Ian spun a good yarn both in his professional and personal lives. Could see a conspiracy brewing months in advance of anyone else and, often, was proved right! Maree and I are missing Ian and are sorry that we never got to invite him to share a good bottle of red at our new home in Mount Martha. Still, we can toast his memory forever wherever we are.

Ian was a highly intelligent, kind and remarkable colleague, an excellent writer and a witty and insightful travelling companion. His knowledge and analysis of complex issues was legendary, his enjoyment of life was obvious and his sense of humour delightful. I am very sorry to hear of his passing.
