Rick Del Giudice a few years ago asked me to translate an interview of Pippo by italian radio (RAI).While translating and listening I was transported back to my youth and to the memories his voice was a part of. I could not bring myself to charge for the work and Rick sent me a tape with some beautiful recordings. I keep it in my car and listen to it when my soul feels the need to be lifted to a higher level. Thanks Pippo & Rick the need to be lifted to a higher level.

It is with thankful thought that I write this. It is with a feeling of which this great artist gave to me....when I listen to his wonderful voice, I close my eyes so none of it can escape.

Throughout my life I have been moved by this wonderful voice. Pippo will live on in my heart for the rest of my life. Grazie Pippo per tutti.

It was through a recording (on LP !) of Madama Butterfly that I fell truly in love with opera - it was DiStefano as Pinkerton and de los Angeles as Cio-Cio-San. I still have it - more than 50 years later. Not really playable now but still wonderful to have. A glorious voice - I remember hearing Pavarotti say once that DiStefano was his hero. DiStefano was my hero, always. May he rest in peace. The memory of that beautiful and thrilling voice will live forever.
