Simone Robinson A few days before my wedding to Sandy in 1980, my mother Margaret and I were invited by Gilly and Aunt Guli' for a little lunch' at their home in Pasley St, Sth Yarra......'to meet a few of the family'. What an occasion...it was packed with family (who's that?), the house was HUGE (where are the directions to lunch?) and we sat down in the loungeroom to a 3 course luncheon, including cold cucumber soup, a speciality of Gilly's (I'd never had that before) !!. I felt very honoured and was always made very welcome then and thereafter. Thankyou Gilly. Gilly was a wonderful friend and cousin to my beautiful mother-in-law Susanne, sharing the long journey through life -always remaining in touch , usually by phone and letters about family news and much more. Thanks Gilly. Sympathy to all your inner circle, Simone xx

Robert Sturges

The greatest of hosts to visiting Brits, in many cases rather remotely related, who contributed in my own case to the very best six months of my life when in S. Yarra when I stayed with her & Guli from Feb to July 1989 (with some periodic exploration across the continent). An unforgettable character who left an indelible impression on a wide eyed 18 year old boy straight out of school who needed some banging into shape. A loss to us all both here (UK) and there (Aus) who will never be forgotten on either side of the globe. Robert Sturges. (I think she would be horrified if she were to see this - sorry Gilly)
