I am so sad to say goodbye to my good friend Geoff. I worked with him at ADFA when I was new to the military and he, as ex-Navy and experienced in the current job, gave me heaps of help and guidance. A learned man, always ready to share, he was rather serious but could always see the funny side of things; a very conscientious worker with a wondfer ful sense of fairness and doing the 'right' thing. I am pleased to say that he, Elaine and I remained friends over the intervening 20+ years, exchanging visits between St Clair and Canberra and more recently Magnetic Island and Canberra. I was sad to see him growing so thin and frail but he never lost his sharp mind and logical thinking - and determination by the bucketload! I am amazed he was able to travel so much, being as sick as he was, but he would not let anything stop him. Finally, though, the ravaged body gave out and we have now lost one of the most wonderful gentlemen who ever trod this earth. We will all really miss him, and I for one am unable to comprehend how he can really be gone. I salute you, my friend - and my heart is heavy. Pat Trewin
