After many years of suffering and imposed rule of Chines invasion in Tibet the people of Tibets voices are finally getting a chance to be heard by the world. Long over due and after many killings, long jail sentences torcher and gradual cultural genocide isnt it finally time to stand up for what is right. Based on the appaling record for human rights by the Chineese they have no right to hold Olympic games so all protests against this are clearly justified, we need to use this opperunity to put pressure on Chine to reform their hard rule tactic on basic human rights. Big business and politics find it easier to turn a blind and dont wish to upset China, we need to keep pressure on our own Governments to speak up for what is right in the worl, hey didnt they say that they were went into Iraq and Afganistan for these reasons, so dont be two faced and stand up for one of the remaining cultures in the worl which have some form of dignity, lets not let the same thing happen which happened to |American Indians aborigional peoples etc etc. Many thanks to all the people who made the protest today a huge success , we are one step closer to helping the plight of Tibetan people to be free to live freely in their OWN country free from suppressiion , dictatorship, torchure, forced sterilisation, to live the way they chhose and practice there religion freely. Can you imagine living like thisLet peace frevail on earth and we all be active in the world to ensure this happens.

Feng, are you paid by Corrupt Chinese Government to write this. Are you a tibetian? No? Then don't please comment on things don't know. You should go to Tibet and see how tibetian culture and temples have been destroyed by Chinese in the name of modernity. Yeah damn right, u know nothing? How would u feel if your country was taken by China, and you were helpless... All you could do is be Chinese. It's not about China, it's about freeing tibet. FREEEEEEE TIBET

Can you please just stop imposing prejudice onto China? Did you ever realize that the 'FREEDOM' you are advocating is not what the current Tibetans want(at least most of them don't think so). It's just something Dalai and his followers want since they will get the highest power and whatever they want when Tibet is "freed" from China. Do you know how much money the Chinese government had invested in Tibet to improve Tibetans' lives? Do you know how did the social status of Tibetans (other than gerentocratics) change? Did you ever tell other people that more than 95% of the Tibetans were slaves before Tibet got controlled by the current Chinese government in 1950s? Do you know being a natural fortress, Tibet will be actually controlled by India or US once it's not a part of China anymore? Please, please stop misleading people who don't know the truth. I understand that a lot of people don't like China, especially the Chinese government, therefore they assume everything it does is bad. Whenever there is a debate, it must be the fault of China??! Please be FAIR and OBJECTIVE. What if somebody says "Free Quebec from Canada"? Would you deal with it in the same way as you did to China? Just in case you are wondering, I am not communist nor do I like the communist party. The government has done some things wrong before, such as the Tiananmen event in 1989 and some collision in Tibet arount 1959. However it is getting much better! I like the current government, although there is still a long way to go to reach the ULTIMATE democracy (true for every country). Please stop exaggerating, stop blaming everything on China! PS I heard the Canadian Tibet activist Lhadon Tethong went to Tibet and got involved in the recent riot. Don't you know that it's really bad to set stores on fire and throw rocks on other people?

The Dalai Lama’s Proposals In 1987 the Dalai Lama proposed a Five-Point Peace Plan for the restoration of peace and human rights in Tibet The plan called for: 1. Transformation of the whole of Tibet into a zone of Ahimsa, a demilitarized zone of peace and non violence. 2. Abandonment of China’s population transfer policy, which threatened the very existence of the Tibetans as a people. 3. Respect for the Tibetan people’s fundamental human rights and democratic freedoms; 4. Restoration of and protection of Tibet’s natural environment and abandonment of China’s use of Tibet for the production of nuclear weapons and dumping of nuclear waste; 5. Commencement of earnest negotiations on the future status of Tibet and of relations between the Tibetan and Chinese people.

“I am in the Lhasa area. There was shooting today. Many Tibetans who were dead and barely alive were collected at the TAR [Tibet Autonomous Region] Security Office area, and I heard from a reliable source that there were 67 bodies. Some were alive and most were dead when they were brought in… This included male and female, and I don’t have the details… But it’s confirmed that there were in total about 67 bodies collected at this place. I cannot tell you the source of my information, but 67 bodies were seen by my source. It was officially announced by TAR officials that martial law was imposed. Right now I can hear shootings. We saw many tanks. Sometimes they fire in the air to threaten the Tibetans. At some places, like the Karma Kunsel area [near Lhasa], they are firing right now. Every Tibetan is stopped and their IDs are checked. Even Tibetan government workers are checked, but the Chinese are free to move around. Many Tibetans who were arrested were taken toward the Toelung area and several other jails in different parts of Lhasa. Even in Penpo, six monks were arrested last night and today there were demonstrations and Chinese shops were burnt. I think they might impose these restrictions for at least another seven to eight days. If they are not allowed to move around, the Tibetans won’t get food supplies, and the Tibetans are already suffering shortages of food. Right now the Chinese authorities are cracking down, but there are indications that this could spread further in rural areas. …There is no indication of any organization planning these demonstrations. It was a spontaneous response of Tibetans, and they jumped into the rally. They were shouting ‘Long live the Dalai Lama’ and ‘Independence for Tibet,’ and burning Chinese flags. Right now I was told that Tibetan monks in Samye monastery in Lokha are protesting too."

“The Chinese shot at everybody in sight and blood and piles of corpses are lying around the main temple Tsuglakhang in Lhasa. Many people have been put into prison where they are being beaten. Tibetans are being forced to beat up their own countrymen. Many Tibetans are refusing to do so.”
