To all those who knew dad and who weren't aware or informed of his death, on behalf of his wife Doone, son Rick and myself , I deeply apologise. From the day he was taken to Nowra District Shoalhaven Hospital on the 5th of Jan, a series of unprofessional and unfortunate decisions by a few, led to an avalanche of medical complications. His last days were spent at Nowra Private Hospital, with a bed remote that worked and staff who minimised his pain and who respected the whole family. Can't thank you all enough. He departed this earth, ready to party on, with a cigar, flask of scotch, a whole currarong black fish and a green lobster tail (frozen) in his pockets. He never went anywhere without proper provisions. Ice was imperative. If there is ice in the afterlife, dad will find it!

My dad, Fred ( the whale), as he was affectionately known at the Coogee Surf Club and the Randwick Rugby Club, was larger than life. When my brother Rick and I were young, he loved to sing and dance around the house with his friends, brothers Bill and Geoff and their families. It didn't matter what the time was, our home was open. So many memorable Randwick Grand Final all-nighters were had, after the club would close at midnight. ( Neighbours apparently needed sleep!) Bye Bye Blackbird was a favourite tune I keep hearing in my head. Party On Big Guy! xxxxx
