Denise, my dear, dear friend, Today is one year since you left us. I am thinking about you today, as I do almost each day. Your photos are on my window sill in my kitchen and during the day, the sun hits the photo Eric gave to me, the black and white one of you at EJ's wedding. Sometimes, if I look at the photo long enough, I feel as though your expression changes, that you are speaking to me. I hope you are, because I am always talking to you, asking your advice and just telling you how much I miss you. It is so hard to believe that it a year that you are gone; I feel your presence all the time. I believe you are at peace and for that, I am grateful. I will always think of you, remember so many of our days together and the memories we shared and you will always be alive within me. I love you, my dearest friend.

NIne years ago Denise and Eric Shea enter our lives. There son EJ was dating our daughter Kristin. We met Denise and Eric on EJ Birthday Dec 19th for the first time. We went to a resturant in NYC and hit it off immediately. We had a wonderful evening. Denise was such a hostess. She made us feel so comfortable. We are still in mourining her death. Over the years we have had such wonderful times together. Either gether together in PA or NYC or Scotch Plains. Planning our childrens wedding, we seem to be on the same page. Our love for Denise is indiscribeable!! Her beauty and style were perfect. She loved my daughter Kristin like her own. We are so blessed to be apart of the Shea Family. We also will take good care of Eric Sr. and Thelma. Our son-inlaw Eric is a wonderful additon to our family and we love him so much!! Denise's memory will always be in our hearts forever. Love, Ann and Gary James

Denise, it's now a month since you left us. You will never leave my heart. I can still see us sitting on the front stoop as little girls, pledging to be blood sisters and best friends forever. That was a promise that did last forever. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you with loving memories of your beautiful eyes and hardy laugh. I thank God for having you in my life, what a gift you were!

I am shocked and greatly saddened to hear that Denise is gone. Her mother Thelma is my first cousin. I remember Denise as a pretty young girl. I left NJ many years ago, but my family kept in contact and I have a lovely photo of beautiful Denise in her wedding gown in my album. What a marvelous woman she was - what a wonderful life she had. Gone too soon. My deepest condolences to all her family and friends. Gloria Linfante Makowski

I've just learned of Denise's untimely passing and want to offer my condolences to her family and dear friends. Denise's mother, Thelma, is my late mother's (Madeline Linfante Kealy) cousin. I have loving memories of Denise and her brother Mark from long ago in Jersey City. May Denise rest in eternal peace.

Denise and Eric were and will always remain icons of my childhood. As we all grow older, we tend to reflect on happy times of our past. I am honored to state that both Denise and Eric are a huge part of my upbringing. They trusted me to care for EJ. They included me in many of their own family events. They introduced me to their love of the shore, music, family and cool cars. They were both instrumental in guiding me towards the right decisions in life. Eric often took me aside to help me with making the right decisions and Denise was that slightly older sister I never had the need to fight. It saddens me to know the last time I saw her a few years ago was the last time……… Denise will always remain in my thoughts for her stunning beauty. She had a constant and steady smile about her. Lord knows as her neighbor and friend, times called for her to loose her cool, but she never did. She was a perfect loving mother to EJ and a devoted genuinely loving wife to Eric. Her gentle touches to Eric & EJ along with her unique laugh made it a pleasure to witness. I call to memory Denise’s “Jersey City” accent when saying my name. I often tried to impress the Shea family and when I stumbled, Denise was always forgiving. Eric, EJ and Mrs. Sherry, my heart filled wishes are with you all. Please know that her loss is tragic to me and her impact on my life is huge. I will remain indebted to Denise and Eric, until I am no more. John Kammerer

Dear Eric, Dr. Charles Simone has dedicated his next breast cancer prevention and screening program to Denise. Approximately 40-50 womeen will be examined, scheduled for mammograms and taught about breast cancer prevention and nutrition. All of the women are inner city women and many are un-insured. Each will be given a copy of Dr. Simone's Breast Cancer Book in Denise's memory. Vicki

Hi Denise, I know your beautiful soul is still with us and especially with Eric, EJ and your family. I feel very sad but also very lucky and blessed for having met you in my life. You are a great woman, so charming, always smiling, exceptionally clever, immensely generous, the person that I would always liked to be, but you are unique and it has been an honour for me to be your friend. Ciao Denise...I will keep thinking of you... Love, Gemma (from Switzerland)

We will miss your gift for friendship and creating new friendships. We will miss your laugh, the stories of the old days, the parties. Most of all we will miss the support and giving of a true friend. There will always be a place in my heart for a woman who had it all and had all to give.

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Denise through my girlfriend Deborah. Although my times with Denise were only a handful, I remember developing an immediate fondness to her. I will always remember that beautiful smile and her attention to small detail . She had me over to her home for a dinner party 1 night and I felt so welcomed as if I knew her for ages. Denise is one of the rare and special people who radiates goodness and happiness all around her. May you rest in peace and know that you touched so many hearts. Ilene

Denise's sense of styke, her class, gracious ways, integrity, selflessness, beauty, efforvescent personality, generosity and compassion will never be forgotten. She personified courage, bravery in the light of adversity, and surely will remain a modern Joan of Arc for me as a true survivor. Her keen eye to detail, her infectious laugh and smile, and the way she welcomed me into her home for her unforgettable Christmas feasts, will burn brightly in my memory. Most of all, her kind, loving nature spoke volumes for who she was as a human being. I know in my heart that she is happy and free. Rest in peace dearest friend. Your star will shine in the hearts of all who knew you. Linda H., NYC.

I will always remember the Christmas dinners at your house with you, Eric, mom, EJ, Kristen, Mark, Ed. We all had such fun sitting around the dining room table, telling stories, and laughing. Yes, laughing. And eating your wonderful food. Your home looked like it came out of a Christmas Wonderland drawing. Decorated from top to bottom with every Christmas ornament in its place, the tree in the corner lit up with presents all perfectly wrapped. And the lighting just so; with soft music in the background. I always felt so welcome into your home. Evan played his violin or sang, maybe both. Those were warm and happy times, times I will always cherish.
