Its been almost four years and you still shine in my memories and that of many others who have had the pleasure of knowing you..we can still see you walking Into SCO buildings with your smile greeting everyone you pass on the way to your little office on the 4th floor with your Ice coffee in your hand and your electric blue sneakers. It still does not feel right even four years later that you are resting in heaven. Atleast you see I kept my word to you that I would make it to my masters degree..I am almost there. I wish you were here so we can celebrate because I definitely owe you a lot for teaching me what I know today. Your name will always resonate as the inspiration to my path. Yes I had a few others as well before you but you put the icing on the cake..your little kenepa is almost there. So from down here to up there I want you to know I am thankful and grateful for having met you and having you as a friend..a supervisor and a mentor. RIP David T. Ruben Miss you dearly

David will be truly missed by me and his Pathways Family. I will miss his raspy voice and his deep tone in Qa/QI, where he came up with great ideas and a ton of suggestions. It was a shock to hear of his Death......... but for david his life has just begun. David save a place for me because one day we will meet again.... To his family may GOD Bless you all and give you strength in your time of grief.

I was first interviewed as a group with David as one of the directors present, with 5 others and Susan Murphy leading the Group Interview in room R-1 that October morning of 2005. God knows I needed and wanted this position as a caseworker and before I even got on the bus going back home, there was David Ruben leaving a message on my home phone interested in me having a 2nd interview. That was the beginning of him becoming my mentor and I have been more then blessed to have walked into the SCO Doors and having David as a supervisor. He became my teacher and friend along the way and soon enough had to let me go so I may grow. David you have seen me in 5 years take on roles I never imagined and had it not been for your dedication to me despite the troubles, you before anyone believed in me. I am proud to be called "Lil David" because you taught me everything I know about social work; you also taught me about strength and faith. You confided in me and I in you. And as I had shared the last QA/QI meeting we had, I will continue to pursue my goals and make sure I leave no Stone unturned so you may remain proud of me!! There will NEVER be another David Ruben. U R irreplaceable!! Your smile, your eyes and your spunk brightened up the room, and now your memory brightens up my heart because you will always be a "shinning star". Rest In Peace!!!

David was a gem, unique and one of a kind. His passing is a great loss to our agency and those whose lives he touched. Words cannot express the loss I feel at this time. I'll miss our early morning talks. I will hold him in my heart forever. REST IN PEACE.

David's contribution to this world will live on in all of the lives he has touched. So many were so fortunate to have known him. Our work at Lawyers For Children was always enhanced when David was a part of the advocacy team. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Mark Leider--David was one of the most dedicated & kind person I have ever met. He was committed to helping our kids in care & would not take "no" as an answer. David always fought hard to get things done for the kids. I am actually in Jerusalem on vacation & will say & place a prayer in honor of him at the western wall. He was a true unique & will be missed. It makes no sense.....

I started working as a law guardian five years ago now, and David immediately made an impression on me. Pretty much every case we had together was difficult, and I still remember sitting for an hour with him and a client and the social worker from my office to figure out what to do, even while the court officer was knocking on the door, trying to call the case. He worked with the toughest, most resistant clients, and actually cared. He would call me when my clients were in trouble, or were about to get kicked out of their placement, so they always had an advocate for themselves. He put his heart into this work and it showed. Whether you agreed with him or not, you couldn't help but respect him. I don't understand, and I never will, why the good ones are taken too soon.

I thank God for meeting you along the way in life's journey. Your knowledge and wisdom were unsurpassed and so was your sense of humor. You related such humorous stories and were never afraid to share your knowledge. You were a "text book" filled with information on all areas of social work. You never left a stone unturned in your quest to assist the youth in care. You were one of the scholars in this agency and a great problem-solver that most people sought out. You will always be alive in my heart and soul. Rest in peace, my friend.

David- a young energetic, vibrant advaocate for youth in care and for his workers. I was so new to the field of casework when I started my internship at SCO in 2008 but David became my invaluable teacher and was never annoyed with the many questions I had to ask. He imparted knowledge and was great source of encouragement. He will be greatly missed but the knowledge he has imparted to be is a lifelong resource and I am ever greatful.

David interviewed me 5 years ago and I'm sure was instrumental in helping me obtain my current position within SCO. He was indeed a savant, and I for one was enamored but the depth of his passion and astute intellectual capacity. He never held back and shot from the hip and we enjoyed a fruitful working and personal relationship. To know David was to love him.. My life has been profoundly enriched for having had the opportunity to know David, who will live on in my heart and in the far reaches of my being. May he rest in eternal peace.
