I have many, many memories of Uncle Dave as my father Laurie Wallace worked with him at the zoo for a very long time. I always went to the zoo every day of the school holidays and the two of them would taunt me by saying they were going to lock me in a cage, throw me in with the emus or leave me somewhere else. They bounced off each other and were the best of mates. Our family and the Cody's spent many fun times together at their home in Forestville. Uncle Dave (not blood relative) and my father were wonderful "animal" people and my father would often say he liked animals more than he liked people. They could do anything with their elephants and loved them dearly. It is a much sadder world without these 2 wonderful men in it. RIP Uncle Dave.

Uncle Davey, I remember the special visits to the zoo, your own elephants, the piano, great fun at parties and my first taste of marmalade on toast for breakfast - very different. Best all I remember that old time favourite - Are you ready Beryl? and you were in the car ready to go.
