I wortked with Colin in ABC Rural .. .. was a guest in his family home at Chatswood on many occasion and knew well his wonderful parents .....went to his wedding in Merriwa NSW, and it came as a grerat shock to hear, only this moring, of his passing. I have many meories of this "larger than life" man but, perhaps my most vivid relates to the death of his father, a Scotsman. In turn, Colin was also an avid Scot, relishing in and projecting his Scots image with great verve. His father had died, and I had a 'phone call from Colin ...."can you arrange a piper for my father's funeral? (Colin was aware that I served in the Army Reserve and the my Regiment had Pipes and Drums) I duly organised and, on the day, Cpl. Cameron arrived in full highland dress which featured a the Cambell of Argyle tartan. Colin took one look at the tartan ..."Good God man, you can't wear that" exclaimed Colin quite loudly so, off came the Campbell tartan and Cpl Cameron piped all ther appropriate laments adorned with a Munro tartan!. To Muff ... I'm sorry that I was not aware of Colin's passing nor the funeral arrangements ... I would have been there to say farwell. God Bless you Colin, and my sincere condolances to you, Muff.
I was a master at sydney grammar school when Colin was a boy there. He was in the Cadet Cops which I commanded. i always enjoyed his country hour on The abc on Sundays. Joan and I heard him address a gathering at the Women's College. As expected he gave a most interesting talk. Our deepest sympathy to his wife and family Robert Rofe
