Will never forget when he smashed into the boards with his knee in a too-small rink but gutted out the rest of his performance even tho he had to be wheeled out of the arena. The man had so much talent and loved performing -sure miss him.

I Miss You So Much! I miss your smile when I'm feeling down, and how only your wit and charm could turn around my frown. I miss our summer adventures around the lake, knowing that our hearts felt feelings that could never be fake. I miss our tennis matches and swims, plus that our love wasn't the based on a whim. I miss our quiet movie nights and long talks, and most especially our long moonlit walks. These things I miss especially the most, so to your memory I will always toast. I miss your big warm hugs, and holding your hand when I'm feeling lost. I miss cooking and shopping with you by my side, our lunches out and our spontaneous trips out of town. I miss our quiet tea time and laughing with you at our favorite movies, and singing together our favorite songs. I miss your determination to make things right, and the way you always looked after and treated me so right. It's been a year since you've been gone, while leaving me here to carry on. I so very much miss your loving eyes and the way you looked at me with them. I miss your strong, loving and warm touch ... Christopher darling, I miss you so much! April June Freeman Copyright ©2009

I will always love Christopher...I met Chris on two occasions, and he was a wonderful, gracious person to know...I just heard the news, so the shock and hurt is very fresh...I have many beloved photographs of Chris, and of Chris and me...I also have a wonderful memory of Chris cutting through the skaters at the end of an Ice Capades show to come to the boards to give my mom and me both a hug and a kiss...I will never forget his smile, or the happiness in his eyes...he will be dearly missed...Rest in peace, Chris...we love you...you were the Greatest!

Nancy and Sasha seem to be the insane posters, or at the very least misinformed - Why not let "Ms." Freeman grieve in peace, without constantly putting her under attack? - I see nothing here that's out of hand. She declared her love for a man she was engaged to, held a private memorial service for a family they shared, announces that others can contribute to a college fund set up for his daughter, offered proceeds from his online store to the same college fund and is helping his fans organize their efforts to have Christopher inducted into the "Figure Skating Hall of Fame." There's nothing inappropriate here posted by Ms. Freeman. You obviously don't know didely squat about April, Christopher or their life for the past several years. I do! You should stop the personal attacks and harassment, because that's exactly what your postings are, a blatant form of mental torture for April and the entire Freeman family that make you sound ridiculous and petty. - You and others like you, need to finally put it to rest! - Don't forget, Christopher is watching and wouldn't be happy with the way you and others have treated April, he loved her and still does.

It is amazing how obsessed you are with this- one thing that all "sane" people know- when you "have" something- whatever it is- money, relationships, etc- when it is real- you don't have to CONVINCE anyone- people just know. Those that spend so much energy trying to convince people of something only shows how UNTRUE it really is. You are truely certifiable- those in REALLY in the skating world know the truth - and you are not it. Get a life- your 5 minutes of fame is over

If you would like to support the efforts to have Christopher Bowman inducted into the USFSA "Figure Skating Hall of Fame," please add your name and hometown to the bottom of this petition or write your own letter of support and send it back to: BowmanSkating@aol.com Joann Barnas a reporter for the Detroit Free Press & Associated Press has written an article in support of thiseffort. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080117/SPORTS18/801170441 ____________________________________________ Christopher Bowman Petition We, the undersigned, request that the USFSA, as the official governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States, formally recognize Christopher Bowman by inducting him into "The United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame" for 2009. As the USFSA is well aware Christopher Bowman was a two time US National Champion, two time world medalist and two time United States Winter Olympian. Moreover, he made an impact on the sport by bringing a charisma to the ice not seen before and rarely seen since. His ability to bring a crowd onto the ice with him brought an excitement to men's figure skating that has gone largely unrivaled since his retirement in 1992. We believe that Christopher paved the way for other skaters, like Johnny Weir, to ride the cutting edge and that he brought a true relevance to men's figure skating. Please recognize Christopher Bowman's accomplishments by inducting him into "The United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame" Our Sincerest appreciation: (Your name - Hometown - USA)

I was a competitetive figure skater during the 1980s and 1990s. I met Chris and spoke with him on many occasions. I skated in a local ice show in Northern Virginia with the late Chris Bowman in 1989. It was truly one of the highlights of my skating career. He was and will remain one of my idols. Off the ice, he took SO MUCH time encouraging and supporting young skaters such as myself. I still have a photo of the two of us. His smile and energy was contagious. I am beside myself hearing this news of his death. The world, and the figure skating community lost an exceptional human being and skater.

Proceeds go to College Fund Christopher Bowman often regretted having to sacrifice his formal education and dream of becoming an Attorney for his skating career. In hopes that his daughter Bianca will have every opportunity to pursue all of her academic dreams, I have decided to arrange for the profits made from the merchandise purchased at Christopher Bowman's Online store to be donated to the educational trust for Bianca Bowman, you can access the store through his official web site http://e-sk8r.com/christopherbowman or http://www.cafepress.com/chrisbowman

This information seems to be missing from this web site and I believe because education was so important to Christopher, this needed to be added here. Contributions can be made in Christopher Bowman's memory to a college fund established for his Daughter: Michigan Education Savings Program (beneficiary: Bianca Bowman) P.O. A Friend on another BLOG web site asked that I post how the "Memorial Scripture Service" went on Saturday February 9, 2008. This is what I posted and thought the family, friends and fans here who could not be present, might like to read that post. -Our private "Memorial Scripture Service" was SO NICE... Very Much, Christopher and what "He" would have wanted ... An intimate group of his close "unofficial" family and a few very close friends, skating students and a couple onlookers who sat in the back respecting our privacy. There was NO drama and it was just what my children and "Our" family needed. A chance to say goodbye to "Our" Christopher in "Our" way. The church was adorned with Christopher's favorite flowers, Red Roses and Star Gazer Lilly's and photo's of Christopher as we knew him ... with his daughter, our family, close friends and skating students. My daughters Samantha and Ashley wrote poems and Samantha read one until her Fiancee Ron took over. Christopher's best friend David (ironically my ex-husband) and a prior skating student of Christopher's - Crystal Jugaszek who started working with Christopher at very young age and never lost touch, read scriptures . A vocal music tribute to Christopher was enjoyed as performed by Brian Martin a life long friend of Christopher's. Many well wishers and friends have sent cards, emails and flowers which have been donated to area nursing homes and shut ins. Christopher's parents Joyce and Nelson Bowman along with his Former Wife Annette and their only Daughter were invited but did not attend. Father Mike read for me my remembrance of Christopher and an email from his sports agent and wife, Michael & Nancy Rosenberg, that I've posted below. That message from the Rosenberg's Read: We wish so much that we could be with you, but here in Mexico we'll be thinking of Christopher and how very much he meant to us. As a client and friend, he always kept us 'on our toes' with his adventures and dreams; and whether or not he succeeded in achieving every one of those goals became irrelevant---it was Christopher's journey that was fascinating, exasperating and often inspiring to many of us. He was truly "one of a kind." We will never, ever forget him; nor will we forget the happiness that April gave him during these last years. "Vaya con Dios, Christopher"---"Go with God." Michael and Nancy Rosenberg, Puerto Nuevo, Baja, Mexico My Remembrance of Christopher read: Christopher was a man with strong morals and convictions. Faith, family, friends and humor were very important to him. Christopher was a loving father, life partner and friend. He was a talented actor, athlete and teacher. Christopher taught skating but also many life lessons to so many who were touched in some way by his life. Christopher had the forgiving heart of an Angel ... every person who knew him was truly blessed to have spent time with him. Christopher never spoke badly about anyone even when he was the victim of unkind words or actions. Christopher went out of his way to lend a helping hand and to say a kind word to everyone even strangers he would meet randomly. His final act was a selfless act. The man who was staying with Christopher in our hotel room in Los Angeles while he was waiting for me, was a homeless man that he met at the Van Nuys library. This man had no place to go so Christopher offered to share our room with him until I arrived to town on Friday morning, January 11, 2008. Christopher offered to sleep on the floor the evening he died, giving up his bed to a man who would be sleeping on the streets after that night. This man was the man who found Christopher on the morning of his death and called for help. I only know this man as Bob. Christopher was working with homeless and befriended a pastor who provides meals to the homeless in Van Nuys. Christopher and I were working on starting a homeless foundation before he died. He was also talking about faith and God more and more in his last months. Christopher expressed a want to become a non-denominational pastor in the weeks before his passing. Christopher spent most of the last 6 years living in both Lake Orion MI and over the past year back and forth to Los Angeles with me and my family. Christopher went to Los Angeles to work on rebuilding his skating school. Christopher was teaching several skaters in Los Angeles who loved him. The youngest ... Lillian Garcia an 8 year old who could barely skate nine months ago, who's ready for her first competition now, because of Christopher. Christopher was also reviving his (childhood) acting career landing a role as an Assistant Football Coach in the film "Down and Distance" with Gary Busey, Brian Bosworth, Master P and Lil Romeo. This film is now going to be dedicated to Christopher. As a child Christopher appeared in more than 200 television commercials, a couple feature films, the television classics Little House on the Prairie and Archie Bunkers Place. Christopher suffered from Bipolar Disorder and several other health problems. He had many demons to contend with but he found comfort from his faith and loved ones. Christopher was working hard to regain self esteem he lost long ago. He was finding the success he was searching for and was in the process of accomplishing his goals. Christopher was learning to live life with faith and love, he was at peace. Christopher loved life and always did things his way ... He was the other half of me, the adventurous and daring side. Christopher was the kindest and most sensitive person I've ever known. Our souls are connected and will be forever. I will always cherish the happiness and love we shared as we mapped out our future together and wouldn't trade a second of time we had during his last years. Christopher was a Champion in everything he did in life and will continue to be a Champion on his new journey, I was blessed by his love and he takes my love with him on that journey. - April Freeman **PLEASE NOTE - I stated that Christopher's favorite flowers were Red Roses and Star Gazer Lilly's" This is not here to cause a debate or any conflict. These were his favorite flowers as I knew him. At one point we had a small flower shop in Lake Orion, MI and Christopher would come in and take those flowers for our apartment, because he said, "they smelled good" ... always the same flowers ... Red Roses and Star Gazer Lillies. So if he might have had a favorite flower other than these at some point in his life ... I'm not going to debate that fact .... especially here on this site.** God's Blessings to you all! You can read about the service at this link. http://www.theoaklandpress.com/stories/021...080210237.shtml

Due to the overwhelming postings on Memorial sites others have created or appear of memorial hosts. Laura who was A GREAT friend of Christopher's and mother of his skating student at Van Nuys Iceland has decided to host her own Blog Spot. You can go there to vent frustrations and say whatever bullshit is on your mind until you feel better!!! Christopher would have loved this!!! He has a Rant and Rave section on his official site where people could speak their minds ... He believed that as close minded or wrong someone might be ... they ALWAYS had the right to speak their minds!!! Check it out!!! Speak up!!!! http://www.ventyourfustration.blogspot.com/

Christopher death was ruled accidental ... After speaking with the Coroner yesterday and some reflection I've decided to make a short statement. The toxicology and autopsy reports show Christopher had an enlarged heart which may have been genetic. The combination of his prescribed medication and alcohol was lethal. "Acute Intoxication from Alcohol and Tablets" was how the investigator stated it. A press release was sent out by the Los Angeles County Coroner. It saddend me greatly to hear he went off program and was drinking the night he passed away after working so hard to stay clean and sober for so long! It was a moment of weakness and he was only human. It's not our place to judge him ... I NEVER did and I NEVER will. I love you with all my heart sweetheart!

As I touch the ice I'll be thinking of you Christopher. My first though was how do I even lace my boots if the tears never stop, but we must skate so we can be reminded of the love we all share for this sport. The love you brought to this sport & the love for the family we have made over the years. This is such a loss to all that knew him, loved him or ever was so lucky to watch him skate. I still have the tape of his first men's single div. I have kept it for almost 20 yrs & it will stay with me forever..... That smile & wave @ the camera will always be something the world will never forget.

April I wish I could make it back from Italy... Please share the story of when Christopher got his first 6.0 in the men's senior div. what a day that was. he was so happy. I love him & miss him so much. My heart, thoughts & prayers are with you all. This is a loss that we will never recover from. I wish time alone can heal our pain but this pain is to deep. I know as Christopher looks down on us he also sheds a tear. For he is the man that brought joy, laughter & a smile to us all. Watching us now breaks his heart even more. He is a man of joy. Everyone please smile on Christohper & know he loves us all & he will never really leave us. In his honor please stand & smile for this is the man he is. Love Gina Marie Gutierrez

I looked at all your photos and Christopher looked so happy in them. He looked like the sort of person that you would love to know as a friend. He is resting in peace now and I hope that you will find comfort in knowing that. All of our lives are only a temporary journey, but through his skating he had the opportunity to touch so many lives with his enthusiasm for life.

Christopher more than taught skating but also life lessons to so many who were touched in some way by his life. Christopher had the forgiving heart of an Angel ... Every person who knew him was truly blessed to have spent time with him. He never spoke badly about anyone even when he himself fell victim to unkind words and actions ... This is a lesson he taught me well! I have always told the truth, not just telling people what I thought they wanted to hear ... That was a lesson I taught to Christopher ... "We" always had truth, kindness and love between us! May God bless the troubled souls who are having a difficult time dealing with this truth and their grief, may you find the comfort you need to cope with your troubles!

We were on the set of the film "Down and Distance" when Christopher walked into my trailer ... he noticed a dog bowl on the floor and puppy toys. Then in the corner sleeping in a doggie bed was this tiny little puppy. Christopher was surprised to say the least and said ... "What's That!?!?" :-) I said back with a smile, "Well, that's Boz, I named him after Brian Bosworth" (who co-stared in the film) and "He's a Multi-Po" ... Christopher said, "A what?!? and you named him what?!?" ... I explained to Christopher that he was "ours" and I wasn't going to give him up. Christopher wasn't crazy about the idea, in fact I was a little worried Christopher wouldn't get along with the puppy, he was afraid of dogs, but the puppy was so small he was not at all scared. He just looked at him and kept shaking his head ... Christopher said, "I hope you know what you're doing ... A puppy ... Oh NO, what's next?!?!" Christopher and Boz bonded really quick. I found them napping together later that day, Boz was sleeping at the top of Christopher's head like a furry little hat!
