I have known Skip for many years, both as a patient and a friend. His was very passionate about his country, his politics, his music and his family. We used to talk about events involving Brian. I am sorry I did not know anyone else in the family. He was so excited about Brian's career, and I know he wanted to live to see him a success. We have lost a very witty, kind and generous gentleman. My condolences to the family

I am glad I got re-aquainted with Skip in the late eighties. I admired his intellect and his dedication to his two sons. I never saw someone more into music than him. It was something he got from our dad, CW McRae. In fact, at times I wished I had had someone like him pulling for my musical career. He was funny, brash, stubborn , musical, witty, sometimes pesky, but never boring, and always ready with sage advice on almost any subject. He was excellent at whatever he undertook to do and always did what he deemed was his duty. He never talked about his military service, but I know he was very partiotic. Well, as the song says, "Go rest high on that mountain....son your work on earth is done".

Skipper, although I did not know you as well as other family members, I would like to say that the time we had together will always stay with me. As a brother-in-law, you made me feel welcomed the first time I met you. I found your warmth, humor, and care refreshing and sincere. Our family will always think of you with a broad smile on your face and a kind word. My God Bless You and keep you near His side.

Skip and many others of his generation (as with those before and since) answered the call and put on the uniform of the United States military. My family and I have nothing but gratitude and admiration for Skip and every other person who serves. It is by the sacrifice of their young, irretrievable years that we are able to live where we want, do the work that we are called to do and to speak and worship as we will. We will miss you. God bless and keep you, friend.
