Thinking of Bruce the last couple of weeks I realized that I cannot ever remember Bruce being anything but happy. I have never heard him expressing disappointment or complaining about things. I know his life has not been all easy having lost his wife and son who he is now happily with. But the beautiful and close family he has have been always there for him and have always been his absolute pride and joy. Bruce also was the driving force behind the tight community at 5 cammeray avenue. For Susan and me he has been a key part of making Australia feel like home. Having said this when it came to cricket or rugby I did hear some complaining at times. He loves his sport and never understood why an Indian like me was not into cricket. It did not stop him from having long discussions (mostly one sided) with me when India was playing. With such a lovely family and a beautiful community he created, friends like Kevin and others, and such successful Australian sporting teams - no wonder he was always such a happy person. We shall miss seeing Bruce sitting on the bench soaking up some warm weather, getting his newspaper, helping him fix his tv, talking about his grand kids, discussing sports, and looking after all of us. Everytime I swim at balmoral I will remember Bruce's constant warnings to watch out for sharks. It has been my absolute privilege to have been a small part of Bruce's amazing life and having him as my family's most lovely local grandfather. We miss you Bruce. Viral
