I remember seeing Antonio play at the lane in a uefa cup game between Spurs & Seville the game ended 2-2 if I remember correctly. He was an up & coming young talent, his death has shocked me, 22 years old it shouldn't happen to fit proffesional footballers whom I always thought were well looked after..how wrong was I. Even though its been nearly 3 years now.... god bless u Antonio, I hope u r @ peace in the big soccer pitch in the sky along with all other young footballers that have suffered a similar fate. This didn't just affect Seville/Spain, It was world wide. With sadness that a legend in the making was so cruelly taken, who will never get to watch his son grow. with love Antonio from England. Suzi. I'm a spurs fan. R.I.P. xxxxx

We have to say goodbye to Antonio, but Antonio's soul will always be in our heart, in Sevilla's stadium and between all Sevilla supporters.

I read this today: FIFA wants top-level athletes, including soccer players, to undergo regular health assessments in a bid to reduce deaths due to cardiac arrest. The call came two days after Sevilla midfielder Antonio Puerta died following his collapse on the field during a Spanish league match against Getafe on Saturday. FIFA chief medical officer Jiri Dvorak said Thursday that extensive heart tests for players and questions about their family's medical history could help identify the most common causes of cardiac arrest. FIFA implemented such a policy for the 2006 World Cup in Germany and now wants it extended to all leagues and other competitions. "The incidence of soccer deaths is not any higher than other sports. But football is the biggest sport in the world," Dvorak said. "There are more people playing and watching football than, say, windsurfing."

This is too sad. I can hardly imagine that when you do your favorite thing in life, you simply pass out. At this very young age. Incredible
