In memory of my dad Anthony Tremarco who passed away in 2007 in the Royal hospital Chelsea. Dad lived a full life, he was a Sgt. in the Royal Artillery and fought in WW2. He was a Dunkirk veteran, and after mum passed away, he spent his last few tears as a Chelsea pensioner, where he was very happy. I was born just as the war ended, so wasn't around in his army days, but I remember the stories he told me of those days. He was outgoing, with a great Northern sense of humour, everybody liked him. His friends said was a "one off" He will be greatly missed.

1) Campaign in Burma "In Burma we see Admiral Lord Mountbatten, the late Major General Wingate and the ace air-director, Colonel 'Flip Corkan' watching Colonial troops depart for heavy action. We move out into the muddy combat areas and watch air transport drop bales of rice and munitions. Allied tanks and infantry are slogging through. Further afield we encounter General Stilwell's Chinese armies (armed with Yank equipment), then we watch them advance through the jungle country. The refugees pour in, and t

The overall web site is a real tribute to a wonderful man I was lucky enough to be with as his partner at the latter end of his life, and was with him at the end with Linda Tremarco, my mother met him through the Once A Soldier videos, when they are both seen on No. 6 Ladies in waiting (Barbara Mary Weatherill) her name is spelt wrong on the video, Tony and I met at Blackpool at the Royal Artillery reunion and we were inseperable from then onwards Rowena Mck. A CHELSEA pensioner from West Dorset was among the guard of honour at the funeral of Sir Denis Thatcher in London yesterday. Anthony Tremarco, 82, formerly of Charminster, stood in a 12-strong troop in the ceremony at the chapel of the Royal Hospital in Chelsea. The honour came after he moved to the hospital and became a Chelsea Pensioner in January of this year because of his long service in the Royal Artillery. Mr Tremarco, whose wife Connie died last year, said: "It was a great honour. "I volunteered for the guard of honour because I liked Denis Thatcher. "He did a lot for the Chelsea Pensioners and used to attend the chapel here regularly with his wife." He added: "The Royal Hospital is perfect and I like it very much. "I am very pleased that I moved here." Mr Tremarco served for 22 years in the Royal Artillery and later became a police sergeant on the gate of the atomic energy plant at Winfrith. He still visits Charminster to see old friends, including 86-year-old Lily Scott. Mrs Scott, whose husband John died aged 89 a year ago, said: "It was a great honour and privilege for Tony. "He is a grand chap and deserved the honour." Sir Denis died aged 88 on June 26 after undergoing a heart by-pass operation in January for ongoing problems. Tributes poured in after his death and friends warned of the effects of his passing on his wife Margaret. Chelsea Pensioners formed the guard of honour at the funeral as dignitaries paid their last respects.

Sunday arrived too soon, and following our tour of the World War 2 Tunnels, lunch at The Clipper, where Sgt Tony Tremarco from the Royal Hospital Chelsea assisted the waitresses in their task (!), we were transported back to the airport for our trip home, very pleased that our "hand baggage" was not weighed as it was when we left Luton. After all, who can resist Famous Grouse at £4.60 a litre?

This year our old friend Lawrence Stubbs (Chelsea Pensioner) brought Tony Tremarco with him. Tony is a very humorous and charismatic war veteran who was a welcome addition to our party. They were accompanied by two female minders plus the Blues Brothers protection party of Phil Rowe and Adam Lydon. Lawrence and Tony were treated like film stars in Belgium hence the reassurance of Phil and Adam taking care of them.
