I recently learned of the passing of Tony Scanlon. I am sure the school is deeply mournful at the loss of someone who has put in many years and so much of himself breathing life into teaching and the arts at Wesley College. I have a few key memories of Mr. Scanlon, which I would like to express. Reading aloud Albert Camus “The Outsider” in English class, and helping me one on one with my final year CATs. I remember him helping me a lot to develop not only my English but to analyze the deeper meaning of books and articles. Also, as I was regularly involved with school plays and musicals I remember his passion and devotion to the Adamson Theater company, seeing him sitting all those long afternoons and weekends in the stalls. I am deeply sorry for the loss you must feel. Personally, I look back and remember those English classes as well as all the great school plays that he helped create. Joel van Embden (OWC 1994)
