Annie and Rosemary - so many many years ago you ripped the disability sector apart in the most amazing way! I followed the story in fascination. Thank you both for what you did and have done for so many others

I will always be thankful for the lessons and inspirations you gave our family through how you lived and shared your life. The world would have been a less joyful place without the pioneering you Anne, Rosemary and many others without speech would have possible remained unheard much longer. To Rosemary, Chris, your carers and friends I send my deepest sympathies.

so sorry to read of Annie's death. lucky me meeting you, Rosemary and Annie in the Assembly so many years ago. Annie always sparked up the rather mundane daily office activities especially when we were all hard at work defending the Assembly's existence. you were an exceptional family. Dolores

I read the book, "Annie's coming out" 27 years ago and was deeply moved by it. I bought 2 more copies to give away. Thank you for giving us the insight into a world of suffering and resilience so often still ignored, worldwide. Denise Kraus

"Annie's Coming Out" was shown by a group of lawyers in Zurich, Switzerland and it was the film which not only changed our attitude towards people with disabilities, but also touched us personally realising that Chris is a distant cousin. Thank you Rosemary and Chris for having been such guardian angels for so long; our heartfelt thoughts are with you at this sad time. Judie Hudson and family

Your persistence allows us all to claim our rightful places. In creating, installing and completing an exhibition called 'Objects of Confinement, Symbols of Liberty' with my disability studies students just this past week, the relating of your experiences was paramount to their understanding and learning. Thank you.

My most vivid memories are talking politics (we agreed!), Anne's response to the Ashley X case which was the truest of anyone's and which I referred to many times, and the video of Anne bungee-jumping. I believe that people live on as long as someone remembers them. Anne and her legacy will live on for a very long time. Sandi McClennen

Thank you Anne for all you have taught us, struggled for, laughed for, and brought to the lives of so many people. I know that I would not be where or who I am today without you. It is an amazing thought to think of how many people have changed their lives because of you, actually it is an overwhelming thought. I owe so much to you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.... Go in peace.

We didn't know Anne, we never heard her speak, but her commitment, drive and her nearly undiscovered ability helps us to remember that even though we don't have recognised disability, we don't always see well, hear well or think well. We need to be reminded so that we can do better and try harder and not give up fighting for the right to communicate. So thank you Ann. Thank you Rosemary.

My husband and I and our son Jacob (non-verbal) met Anne in California this July at the WAPADH conference. My son was so moved by Anne and Rosemary. Anne's story continues to be the g force behind our efforts in allowing Jacob to participate in everyday life. Jacob is now in an inclusive classroom and is meaningfully sharing with his peers and our community. Without Annie and many others this would not have been possible. Annie we love you and you are the wind beneath our wings. Her legacy will live on for generations to come!!

I read Anne's story as a young woman of 17. I was moved, challenged, inspired and amazed. Years later my first daughter was born with athetoid Cp and she is non-verbal. The first book I read again was Anne's story. A truly remarkable woman. I am grateful to have heard Anne speak at AGOSCI and ISAAC. A true fighter. A sad loss.

I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Anne but I was very saddened to read of her passing. Anne changed the way I understood people with severe disabilities forever and did the same for people around the world. We are so much richer for her having been with us. What an extraordinary woman. Rosemary and Chris I'm very sorry for your loss. And thank you for helping Anne achieve her potential.
