About

Biography

Steve Irwin was best known as “The Crocodile Man”.  He was a naturalist and conservationist from Australia who worked tirelessly to save the crocodile, and who achieved huge fame through his series “The Crocoldile Hunter”.  He appeared unconquerable and fearless in his documentaries that he co-hosted with his wife Teri.  He and his wife co-owned the Australia Zoo which was founded by Irwin’s parents.

He appeared in his television series regularly with his wife, and also appeared in a feature film The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course.  He appeared regularly as a guest on television, and did voice work in the 2006 movie ‘Happy Feet”.  He established the Steve Irwin Conservation Foundation (later renamed to Wildlife Warriors Worldwide).

He died in a freak diving accident while filming a new documentary on the Great Barrier Reef.  Irwin swam too close to a Bull Ray and the barb of the animal went up and into his chest piercing his heart.  He died  almost immediately.

My Memory

Kaitlyn (Nov 19, 2008)

I enjoyed watching you on your documentaries and how you always show affection for the animals you worked with. You are the greatest man that has ever lived. The work that you did with the animals was so amazing. You stood up for the animals rights and if they were in need of help you helped them. You are a hero not only for me but other people as well. You are a hero to all the animals you helped. Im will never forget you Steve Irwin

Joy Jameson Rapaglia (Nov 08, 2008)

I enjoy watching you work with the creatures you loved so much. I admire you for doing everything you could to teach people that all animals are special and deserve to be protected. I respect the work you have done to save the planet, its animals and their habitats. I cry because you are gone, but I am happy that your family continues the efforts you have begun. I thank you, and them. You are my hero.
