Memories of Richard David Ashlin

Peppy

Muttlee50m (Feb 11, 2008)

I'm another trivia player from the trivia channel. I was saddened to hear of Peppy's passing,
He was always considerate of everyone in trivia, always helping newcomers and visitors. He helped me (a computer dummy) a few times with computer problems, though he had to instruct me slowly and in simple terms-thanks for the patience. The main thing I remember about Peppy is he would slow down or help the other team so the game would be tied and 'next point wins'.
Miss you Peppy-God bless you!

My Memory

Michael Ashlin ( Brother) (Feb 10, 2008)

Richard was my brother who was three years younger than me.We were very close all through the years. Thinking back ,when we were kids living in Canada, we loved going down the snow hills with cousin John on our sleds. As more years passed he introduced me to the beauty of the mountains with canoe trips and overnight camping. We sat around the campfire and talked about anything and everything that only brothers could do. Throughout his life he helped many people in various ways. He was gifted with a sharp mind which he used to help strangers, friends and many family members. Richard would give great advice on just about any subject or could find the answer to your questions. Our Mother was the love of Richards life. She provided unconditional love when he needed it the most. Richards' stay here on earth was short but he accomplished many great things and made us proud. His legacy will continue to live in our hearts forever.

I am a moderator on the #trivia channel (Irc) and I often saw Richard there, although I didn't get the chance to talk to him much. However I noticed he was a very intelligent and kind person and we'll be missing him.God bless you, Richard and may your soul rest in peace.

I've been a trivia reg for a while now. It comes at a shock to me that Peppy is no longer with us....he always struck me as a much younger person since he was always in a cheerful mood and willing to strike up conversations. He'll be missed.

Richard Ashlin - Peppy

Sneaky from trivia in irc (Feb 10, 2008)

I met Pep in the Trivia channel in Irc. He was a brilliant trivia competitor, and I admired him very much. He was a pleasant, polite man who would be encouraging to me that I would improve with the game. He was a very likeable guy and easy to become friends with. He always acknowledged me and for that I respected him. He will definitely be missed! God be with you now Peppy. May you rest in peace!!.....sneaky

MEMORY

Linda Cedo (Feb 07, 2008)

I have lots of good memoires of Richard as a child and an adult. He was like a big brother to me. As kids we were never allowed to go into Richard's room but as curious as Jenny and I were we would try to go into his room and would get caught by Richard everytime. He would chase us all over the house until we ran out of the house. Richard always had a big smile and I will always remember that about him. I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. Love, Linda Cedo

My Memory

Ann Ashlin (Feb 07, 2008)

I only met Richard 30 years ago but talked and emailed him as did my daughter Laura many times over the last 4 years. We will both miss him but know he is now out of turmoil. All our love ,Ann and Laura Ashlin from the UK.

Peppy

Wendy34/Adel (Feb 06, 2008)

I only knew him as "Peppy". He was the first person in our channel to start an actual conversation with me instead of just playing together. He was kind, and thoughtful, and sweet. When we are online together, and I get depressed, he will always take time off from the game to spend a little time to talk to me and try to cheer me up.

It is a sad day to learn about his passing.

May his soul rest eternally. More than anything, you deserve to be free from all the pain and suffering. and in the Lord's arms you will find it.

I did not get to know you very well, but from what My Mom has told me and from the pictures it seems like you had many good times camping. Thank you for the time you spent with me. You will be missed. I hope you are happy with Grandpa.

Peppy

Inexcess (Zac) (Feb 06, 2008)

Well he was only one guy, whom everybody knew n admired on trivia channel. And he knew about everyone too. Pretty versatile and vivacious personality, who with his presence always made this channel more than just a trivia channel.

I may not know Peppy too well as most of other guys in this channel, but for sure his absence will always be felt by each and every trivian who saw his trivia skills and his ability to talk on almost every topic generously.

May Lord bless his soul. Amen

Happy Peppy Memories

sandy/piy - from #trivia (Feb 06, 2008)

I met Richard (a.k.a. Peppy in #trivia mirc undernet) a year ago..and he was one of the reasons why i always loved logging onto the channel..

Apart from being extremely intelligent (alot of people had a hard time trying to beat him in trivia), he was always the gentleman..(especially in victory, a trait which is kinda rare in this world)...He made me feel safe and warm...Only good friends can make you feel that way..

My only regret is not having met him in real..It would have been nice to shake the hand of such a handsome man..within and without..My deepest condolences to his family and friends..
