I know. This doesn't seem like something you'd talk about when you want to remember someone but my family is turkey crazy.
My grandma didn't speak a word of English, but she was very opinionated about how a turkey was cooked. She would rub the bird with butter, then with rosemary, oregano and thyme, and then she'd baste it every 30 min in orange juice and create a tinfoil tent.
I am beginning to realize that nobody does the turkey the same way. Friends have offered up at least 10 different ways to do it. One even suggested deep frying it. I can guarantee that would not be welcome in a small one bedroom apartment.
How does your family do turkey?
