Memories of Tim Russert

My Memory

Darrell Jones (Jul 24, 2008)

Being ten years old when TV appeared in our American homes, I have seem them all, Edward R. Merrow, Lowell Thomas, John Cameron Swayzee, Charles Collingwood, Douglas Edwards, Chet Huntley and David Brinkley, I could name many more, but to no avail, there never was, nor will there ever be anyone like Tim.....He was the Larry Bird, of news, he was the John macEnroe of Tennis...Tim was simply the greatest journelest there will ever be. His enthusium, his excitment, his true love for the truth and the American way, I actually cried like a baby...how can we have politics, without Tim....his love for his wife, son Luke, father Big Russ, wow!!! He was Mr. America, my GOD Bless

A Great American

Terence Corcoran (Jul 19, 2008)

A Family Man. A Godly Man who believed that God has purpose for each of us in life.
Sincere, patriotic, funny, great values, high degree of integrity, perserverence, true to
his job, fair, always looked sharp and professional. The only journalist who took the profession to the next level. Loved to work out of the box, loved his use of the portable
white board. True to his parents. True to his wife. Raised a great son who will be honored to carry on his name.
Tim Russert a great man that everyone will miss. God's speed Tim

My Memory

Dori Farber (Jul 17, 2008)

I am not a person who watches much news. I just knew when i wanted an accurate and clear explanation of anything, that i could count on Tim. I also have never put a response on any site of this kind. I did however want to express my condolences to his family and say that the funeral was magnificent. I know that you already know that you are not grieving alone. Please accept the love and good wishes of this stranger.

My Memory

Tim Russert was so unique in America today. Because he was smart, courteous and charming in a Buffalo, boy- like way.
Tim was most unusual because he was not a child pf wealth. Now, it seems most who make it come from Ivy League schools and all doors are opened to them because of family money and influence.
How refreshing Tim was to come from working class Buffalo, and to remain proud of his heritage !
There ane none with his intellect and courage to confront the liars who come on Meet the Press to be interviewed.
I saw a clip of Tim confronting McCain and it was great.
As McCain lied, Tim showed video of his words to show the lies.
Tim had courage and we lack that in America now.
That is, in great part, why we are in deep economic troubles.
Where are the intelligent, articulate people of courage?
And don't tell me his son, as he is just a college kid!

We miss and need you, Tim.

God Bless

My Memory

Colin Lemuel Chamberlain (Jul 07, 2008)

Timothy Russert was on "their" hit list from the moment he started puting his nose into places where "they" didn´nt want hit. A brave man, Tim. He knew what he was doing, knew the risk, but he took it, for the benefit of his fellow americanswho remain here. And what are his fellow americans going to do about it? Nothing, as usual!
They are all asleep, hypnotized by the Svengalis in the Whitehouse.
How can you all be so blind as to what is going on??????

My Memory

Robin Daub (Jul 07, 2008)

I'm a 57 year old man. When the text message received on my cell phone informed me of Tim's demise, I teared up and cried like a hurt child. This is out of character for me. I was his age and felt he was 'there' throughout my life--and suddenly he was gone without warning. I miss him right now, even though we never met, there was this connection I had that pulled at my heart, making me aware how much he loved and was loved. He even went to Woodstock (the first one) as did I. It hurts even now as I type this. God Blessed us when he gave Tim to each of us.

My Memory

Nora Davenport (Jun 25, 2008)

My husband and I were driving around our city, looking at all the devastating flooding that has literally destroyed our beautiful city and state (we live in the capital city)........it was just devastating....when, all of a sudden, the radio station broadcast a special announcement......that Tim Russert was dead.........I just cried out, "no, no, no......it cannot be." He's just a year younger than I and so really hit home.......
He was an incredible human being, and I think we all could take "lessons" from him.....even though he was in Washington, D.C., he never forgot his "common roots," and he was a devout Christian with a deep, deep faith in God (I just KNOW he has a special place in Heaven now!).......he was one of the most fair, honest journalists around, who gave all a "fair shake."
As I sat and watched his memorial,, crying most of the time, I just kept thinking of what a huge loss our country has suffered..........Tim Russert cannot, and will not, ever be replaced.
Tim, may you rest in peace, and God bless you forever and ever........
He was one of a kind!
